Lamayuru Monastery

Lamayuru Monastery is a Buddhist monastery complex in Leh district consisting of whitewashed buildings arranged across a mountainside setting. The structures include temples, meditation halls, and residential quarters that together form a functional religious community.

The monastery was established in the 11th century and developed into an important religious center in the region during the medieval period. Expansion occurred over following centuries as local masters added new temples and structures to the complex.
