Aina Mahal is a palace in Bhuj, India, known for its mirror work and European interior design. The rooms combine Venetian chandeliers with local craftsmanship, showing a mix of Western and regional design.
The builder Ram Singh Malam constructed the residence from 1750 for the Maharao, bringing architectural ideas from his European travels. Later rulers expanded the complex and added more halls.
The palace halls contain traditional artifacts, paintings, and decorative items that showcase the artistic traditions of the Kutch region.
The best time to visit is in the morning when natural light illuminates the mirror work. The rooms are on multiple levels, so visitors should wear sturdy footwear.
One hall on the upper floor used running water over marble to reduce heat. This system worked without mechanical parts and relied only on evaporation.
