Ambattur taluk

Ambattur taluk is an administrative zone in northwestern Chennai that combines residential neighborhoods with industrial zones. The area is home to a large population spread across both established communities and commercial districts.

The area was originally part of Ponneri taluk before being organized as a separate administrative unit. A reorganization in 2018 brought it into Chennai district, reshaping administrative boundaries in the region.

Temples scattered throughout the area serve as focal points where residents gather for festivals and daily worship. These spaces keep traditional practices alive while adapting to the urban environment around them.

The area contains both residential neighborhoods and extensive industrial zones spread across the landscape. Visitors can focus on different sections depending on whether they want to explore community areas or commercial districts.

Two lakes, Ambattur Eri and Chithu Oragadam Lake, cut through the area and shape its natural features. These water bodies play an important role in the ecology and water management of the region.
