Catherine Falls, Double cascade waterfall in Kotagiri, India
Catherine Falls features two distinct water drops, with a total height of 76 meters, created by the flowing waters of the Kallar River.
The waterfall bears the name of Catherine Jane Cockburn, wife of M.D. Cockburn, who established the first coffee plantations in Kotagiri during the 1800s.
The local population refers to this natural formation as Geddhehaada Halla, meaning Foothills Dale River in the regional language of Tamil Nadu.
Visitors can reach the falls by taking the Mettupalayam road from Aravenu, with the nearest airport located 70 kilometers away in Coimbatore.
The water cascade becomes visible from Dolphin's Nose viewpoint, where people can observe both sections of the falls against the mountain landscape.
