Black Thunder, Water park in Mettupalayam, India
Black Thunder is a water park at the base of the Nilgiri Mountains near Mettupalayam. The site includes several slides of different heights, a wave pool, and shallow areas for children.
The park opened in the early 1990s and was among the first large leisure facilities in this part of Tamil Nadu. The site expanded over the years, adding new attractions gradually.
Families from across Tamil Nadu visit on weekends and public holidays to spend time together in the water. During April and May, when schools close for summer, the park becomes a meeting point for several generations.
Visitors find changing rooms with lockable compartments and can rent swimming gear on-site. The park has several food stalls offering regional dishes, so guests can stay throughout the day.
Some slides begin at viewpoints where you can see the surrounding valley before gliding into the water. The site uses water from natural mountain springs that passes through modern filters.
