Falta community development block, Administrative division in Diamond Harbour subdivision, India

Falta is an administrative block in the South Twenty Four Parganas district of West Bengal covering flat land across a wide area. The territory consists of more than 100 villages connected by roads and waterways, with public services distributed across these communities.

English merchants settled here in the 18th century and established a trading post in this region. This early foreign presence shaped the area's development during colonial times.

Hindu and Muslim communities share this area and contribute to its local customs and celebrations. Their coexistence shapes how people organize festivals and daily gatherings throughout the block.

The area consists of villages connected by roads and two ferry services, so planning your route ahead helps with getting around. Visitors should expect services spread across different parts of the block since nothing is concentrated in a single central location.

India's first Special Economic Zone was created here in 1984, a milestone for national industrial development. This zone became a significant employer and contributed to the economic transformation of this rural area.
