Sabarna Sangrahashala

The Sabarna Sangrahashala is a house museum in Barisha that displays the collection of the Sabarna Roy Choudhury family, one of Bengal's oldest landowning families. The museum preserves a historic lease deed from 1698 that served as evidence in a Calcutta court case challenging the conventional story of the city's founding. This document shows that the family held important land rights before the city took its modern form.
