Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture

The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture operates from a large building complex featuring a museum, prayer hall, meditation room, and educational facilities.

Founded in 1938 and inaugurated in 1963 during Swami Vivekananda's birth centenary celebrations, the institute received its heritage status from Kolkata Municipal Corporation in 2007.

The institute maintains a collection of 33,000 volumes in its library and offers courses in 19 languages, including 14 foreign and 5 indigenous languages.

The School of Languages provides instruction at both beginner and advanced levels, while the research center supports scholars studying Indian philosophy and traditions.

The building, constructed by Martin Burn Company, displays architectural elements inspired by ancient Hindu palace designs from northwestern India.
