NTR Gardens, Public park near Hussain Sagar Lake, Hyderabad, India
NTR Gardens is a public park along the shores of Hussain Sagar Lake with fountains, manicured lawns and paved paths under large shade trees. Several themed sections display different plant species, from tropical palms to dry vegetation from desert regions.
The park opened in December 2001 and serves as a public memorial to a former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh who was also known as a film actor. The grounds were created as part of the urban renewal along the lakeshore promenade.
The name honors a prominent regional politician and film actor whose legacy remains visible in the city's public spaces. Families gather on weekends for picnics under the trees or to eat and play together on the open lawns.
The main entrance sits near the lakefront promenade and is easy to reach from the inner city roads. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, as the paths stretch across a wide area and some sections lie in full sun.
One section displays cacti and succulents from dry climates not normally seen in this region. A restaurant stands on stilts among the branches, resembling a traditional treehouse.
