Nicco Park, Amusement park in Salt Lake, Kolkata, India
Nicco Park is an amusement park in Sector IV of Salt Lake spread across roughly forty acres. It includes thirty-five rides such as a wooden roller coaster, water slides, and zones with carousels for children.
The park opened in October 1991 through a partnership between private investors and the West Bengal government to provide recreation in Kolkata. Over the following decades, it expanded with new rides and water-based attractions.
The name comes from an engineering firm, and visitors encounter educational displays throughout the grounds that explain solar panels and wind turbines alongside the rides. Families often spend entire days here, using the lawns for picnics between attractions.
The park opens daily from half past ten in the morning until half past seven in the evening, with longer hours during summer months. Pathways connect family zones, roller coaster areas, and water-based sections throughout the grounds.
A retired MIG-21 fighter jet from the Eastern Air Command stands on the grounds, letting visitors see military aviation up close. Many families take photos beside the cockpit while children can look at the wings and engine from nearby.
