Nehru Stadium is a multi-purpose ground in Pune used mainly for cricket, built in 1969 and formerly called Club of Maharashtra Ground. It holds 27,000 spectators and is the home ground of the Maharashtra cricket team in the Ranji Trophy.
The ground opened in 1969 as the Club of Maharashtra Ground and was renamed Nehru Stadium. It has since hosted 11 One Day Internationals, the first in 1984 between India and England, and matches of the 1987 and 1996 Cricket World Cups. It has never hosted a Test match.
The ground is home to the Maharashtra Cricket Team in the Ranji Trophy, the state first-class competition. Its former name, Club of Maharashtra Ground, survives in local references to the venue.
The ground sits at the junction of Tilak Road and Laxmi Road, making it accessible by local buses and taxis. Check ahead for match schedules and training sessions, as these happen throughout the year.
In the 1996 World Cup match at this ground, Kenya bowled West Indies out for 93 and won by 73 runs, one of the biggest upsets in the tournament's history. The ground has never hosted a Test match; its first ODI was India v England in 1984.
