Parumala Church, Orthodox church in Pathanamthitta district, India
The circular church building, designed by architect Charles Correa, features an inner diameter of 39 meters and holds space for 2000 worshippers.
The church was established in 1895 on a two-acre plot donated by Arikupurathu Mathen Karnavar for both the religious building and seminary purposes.
The main altar wall displays the largest icon painting in Malankara, representing biblical figures including Christ and the Theotokos in traditional Orthodox style.
The church functions as the administrative center of the Niranam Diocese under Bishop Yuhanon Mar Chrysostomos and welcomes visitors throughout the year.
The church houses the tomb of Saint Gregorios of Parumala, the first canonized Indian Orthodox saint, drawing pilgrims from multiple religious backgrounds.
