Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Bridge, Four-lane road bridge in Nashik, India
The Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Bridge stretches 14 kilometers across Nashik, featuring a steel construction with a width of 120 feet and height of 70 feet.
The construction of this major infrastructure project received approval from Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2002 and opened to traffic in June 2013.
The bridge bears the name of the Maratha Empire founder Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, reflecting the strong connection to Indian historical figures in Maharashtra.
The bridge accommodates approximately 50,000 vehicles daily without charging tolls, connecting the Pandavleni caves area to Adgaon within the city limits.
This structure stands as India's first externally-strutted segmental box girder bridge, designed to support loads of up to 100 tons per vehicle.
