Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple, Hindu temple in Nashik district, India
Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple is a Hindu temple in Nashik district, India, standing where the Godavari River begins. Three hills called Brahmagiri, Nilagiri and Kalagiri form its natural setting.
The building rose between 1755 and 1786, when Peshwa Nanasaheb ordered its reconstruction after earlier damage during Mughal rule. This rebuilding brought the form you see today.
Priests at this place keep genealogy registers for Hindu families, recording ancestral lines for pilgrims who come to trace their roots. This tradition draws people from across India seeking connections to their past.
The place opens daily from 5:30 in the morning until 9:00 in the evening for visitors, with the nearest railway station at Nashik Road. From there you need to cover 39 kilometers to reach the site.
The inner chamber holds three separate lingas representing the deities Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, carved from black stone within a single sculpture. Such trinity representations are rarely found in other temples.
