Vajreshwari Temple is a Hindu temple on Mandagiri hillock in Thane district, Maharashtra. The main shrine sits at the top and you reach it by climbing fifty-two steps that pass through a drum house.
Portuguese forces destroyed the original temple in Gunj, after which Chimaji Appa completed reconstruction at the current site in 1739. The relocation marked a new beginning for the pilgrimage community in the region.
The name Vajreshwari means
The complex is open daily from early morning until late evening, with ceremonies held at sunrise and sunset. The steps require moderate fitness and sturdy footwear is advisable.
Twenty-one natural hot springs bubble around the temple grounds and draw visitors who perform ritual baths in the warm water. The springs remain active throughout the year and are associated with healing properties.
