Bhavangad Fort, Historical fort in Palghar district, India
The fortress sits on a small hill with stone walls constructed without cementing material, featuring multiple bastions and a square water tank.
Built in 1737 by Chimaji Appa Peshave with 2,000 laborers, the fort served as a strategic point to control Portuguese movements in the region.
The Bhavangadeshwar Temple stands at the highest point of the fort, while two caves that were used for grain storage remain visible.
Located 9 kilometers from Palghar Station and 5 kilometers from Kelva Beach, the fort can be explored within an hour through defined trails.
The western entrance displays Gomukhi architecture with limestone construction, and includes guard vestibules near the entrance point.
