Bhavangad Fort

Bhavangad Fort is a fortification on a small hill constructed with stone walls built without mortar, featuring several bastions throughout its layout. A square water tank and clearly marked trails allow visitors to explore the entire site systematically.

The fort was built in 1737 and served as a strategic stronghold to monitor and prevent Portuguese expansion in the region. Its location and design made it a key defensive position during that era.

The Bhavangadeshwar Temple sits at the highest point and serves as a center for worship and contemplation. The two visible caves demonstrate how people adapted this hilltop space for storage and daily needs.

The site is located roughly 9 kilometers from Palghar Station and about 5 kilometers from Kelva Beach, making it accessible from nearby towns. A complete visit takes around one hour if you follow the established trails.

The western entrance displays Gomukhi architecture built with limestone and includes guard vestibules positioned near the main gateway. This distinctive architectural style sets the entrance apart from the rest of the fortification.
