Experimental Theater, Theater building at National Centre for the Performing Arts, Mumbai, India
The Experimental Theater contains 300 modular seats and offers adaptable staging configurations within its black box design at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.
The theater opened in April 1986 following a substantial donation of 5 million rupees from Tata Steel to expand Mumbai's performing arts facilities.
The venue presents experimental plays, Indian epics, classical music concerts, Western operas, and ballet performances throughout the year.
Located in South Mumbai's Nariman Point district, the theater provides conference rooms, large foyers, and a performing arts museum for visitors.
The acoustic engineering by Larsen & Toubro enables performers to present musical pieces without amplification while maintaining sound clarity throughout the space.
