Mamaleshwar Temple, Hindu temple in Pahalgam, India
The Mamaleshwar Temple stands at 2,200 meters elevation on the banks of the Lidder River in the Kashmir Valley region.
The temple, built around 400 AD, underwent reconstruction during medieval times and received a golden kalasa during the reign of King Jayasimha.
Two primary religious objects occupy the temple interior: a central Shiva Linga and a smaller two-faced Nandi figure in the right corner.
Located at coordinates 34°00′35″N 75°18′43″E in Anantnag district, the temple maintains open access throughout all seasons for worship and visits.
This location marks the mythological site where Ganesha received his elephant head after an encounter between Lord Shiva and Parvati.
