Arasbaran

Arasbaran is a mountain range and protected nature reserve in East Azerbaijan that extends between a major mountain massif and a river, containing varied landscapes. Dense forests, alpine meadows, and different elevations throughout the area create diverse habitats.

The area served as a center of significant resistance in the ninth century against a major power, as recorded by historical sources. This period shaped the region profoundly and remains present in local memory.

The region has long been home to herders and farmers whose daily life closely follows the seasons and the land. You can see traces of this way of living throughout: grazing animals on the slopes, small villages, and hand-woven carpets created in homes that display regional patterns.

Visitors can find several hiking trails, rest areas, and natural hot springs throughout the area to explore. Guided tours can be arranged from nearby towns to help you experience the region.

The area is home to a remarkable variety of plant and animal species distributed across several elevation zones. Deer, rare fungal varieties, and thousands of plant species live together, forming an unusual ecological system.
