Ferdowsi Mausoleum

The rectangular stone structure rises 16 meters high with marble columns and faience decorations in a 6-hectare garden north of Mashhad.

The tomb underwent multiple reconstructions until architects Hossein Lorzadeh and Hooshang Seyhoun completed the current building between 1934 and 1969.

The mausoleum contains stone reliefs depicting scenes from the Shahnameh epic poem, alongside Persian calligraphy inscriptions from Ferdowsi's verses on its walls.

The memorial complex includes a museum, library with 9,000 books, administrative buildings, and remains open daily from 9 AM to 7 PM in summer months.

The structure incorporates Achaemenid architectural elements with 20 marble columns on the lower level and 8 columns in the upper section.
