Nonni's House, Wooden house museum in Akureyri, Iceland
The two-story structure features traditional Nordic wooden architecture with white-framed windows and a dark wooden exterior characteristic of 19th-century Icelandic buildings.
Built in 1850, Nonni's House belonged to Jón Sveinsson, who left Iceland at age 12 to study at a Jesuit school in France through funding from a French nobleman.
The museum displays an extensive collection of Jón Sveinsson's books, which have been translated into 40 languages and read by children across multiple generations.
The museum includes guided tours through rooms filled with original furnishings, personal belongings, and photographs documenting the life of the Icelandic author.
A memorial statue by sculptor Nína Sæmundsson stands outside the house, while a commemorative grove marks Sveinsson's birthplace in nearby Möðruvellir.
