Madesimo, Ski resort in Lombardy, Italy
Madesimo is a winter sports resort situated at 1,399 meters (4,590 feet) elevation in the Province of Sondrio, with more than 30 ski runs spanning about 55 kilometers (34 miles) of marked trails. The area serves skiers and snowboarders of all abilities through terrain ranging from gentle slopes to steep descents.
The community was originally known as Isolato before being renamed Madesimo in 1983. This change marked a turning point as the mountain settlement transformed into a modern winter sports destination.
The central avenue bears the name of Italian poet Giosuè Carducci, who selected this mountain location as a source for his literary creations.
The resort is accessible for winter sports from late November through early April, with 12 lifts serving the various runs. Visitors should know that the mountain conditions and altitude require reasonable physical preparation.
The Canalone slope presents a natural corridor through the mountains, establishing itself as one of the most technical descents in the Alps.
