Jesolo

Jesolo lies in the Metropolitan City of Venice in Veneto and stretches along a long coastline between the Piave and Sile rivers. The beaches are divided into many sections, with beach clubs, hotels and promenades running for several kilometers.

The settlement began in Roman times as Equilium, where people raised horses and later built a community by the sea. Centuries later the place was reshaped into a beach resort that attracted many tourists after the Second World War.

The old name comes from Equilium, which means land of horses, because Romans raised animals here. Today the town blends Venetian traditions with beach life, which you can see at local festivals and in the restaurants.

The bicycle path network connects the beach area with the town center and nearby nature reserves, so you can explore the surroundings without a car. Most facilities are open from spring to autumn, in winter it is quieter.

The town draws many visitors from Central Europe each year who spend longer summer holidays here. Some beach sections still carry old names that recall former fishing villages that stood here before tourist development.
