Limone sul Garda

Limone sul Garda is a lakeside town on the western shore of Lake Garda, built on steep cliffs that rise directly from the water. The settlement stretches along the waterfront with houses clustered on the hillside and lemon gardens layered across the slopes.

The settlement remained isolated until the 1940s and could only be reached by boat or mountain paths before modern roads connected it to the outside world. This remote location shaped the community's development and way of life for centuries.

The traditional lemon gardens with stone pillars and wooden structures shaped how locals organized their hillside land and remain visible throughout the town today.

The town is best visited during calm weather when small boats run regularly from the harbor to other Lake Garda destinations and roads are passable. Wear sturdy footwear if you plan to explore on foot, as steep paths and stairs require good grip and balance.
