Andrea Pernis constructed Saint Benedict church in 1691, replacing a previous Romanesque structure mentioned in Pope Urban III's bull of 1186.
The interior displays significant artworks, including Cristoforo Benedetti's high altar from 1724 and Battista d'Angolo's 1547 altarpiece depicting Jesus' deposition.
Regular Mass services take place in the church, which maintains historical archives documenting baptisms, marriages, and deaths of the local community.
Saint Daniel Comboni, who later became a notable African missionary, received his baptism in this church during the nineteenth century.
