Ponte di Legno, Mountain resort in Val Camonica, Province of Brescia, Italy
Ponte di Legno is a municipality in the Province of Brescia at 1258 meters (4127 feet) in Val Camonica. The ski area features 41 runs and 28 lifts across the terrain.
The village suffered heavy damage during World War I when the frontline passed through and Austrian artillery bombarded it. The Church of the Holy Trinity dates to 1685 and later received carved wooden doors.
The name recalls the old wooden bridge that crossed the Oglio and connected valleys for centuries. Many farmhouses in the area still display traditional alpine architecture with timber balconies and carvings.
The resort includes ten blue runs for beginners and seven black slopes for advanced skiers. Lifts also connect to nearby Passo del Tonale, expanding the options for different skill levels.
Residents of the surrounding hamlets still use old nicknames rooted in dialect words to identify each other. People from Poia are called Bòrse, while those from Zoanno go by Gòs.
