Pontecagnano Faiano

Pontecagnano Faiano is a municipality southeast of Salerno, consisting of several connected towns where Pontecagnano serves as the main commercial district. The area also includes a major shopping center, regional airport facilities, and a train station linking to broader transportation networks.

The original settlement, known as Picentia, was destroyed by Romans in the first century BC after allying with Hannibal against Rome. This event marked a turning point in the ancient history of this region.
