Monte Prelà, Communication tower at Monte Prelà, Liguria, Italy
Monte Prelà is a communication tower located at 1406 meters elevation in the Ligurian Apennines near Torriglia. The structure sits on an open summit and broadcasts signals across the surrounding valleys and regions.
The transmitter was built in the second half of the 20th century to improve telecommunications coverage across the Liguria region. This installation provided more reliable radio signals to remote mountain areas that lacked connectivity.
The transmitter mast location offers views of both the Trebbia and Scrivia river origins, which flow as tributaries into the Po River system.
The summit is reachable via marked hiking trails within Antola Natural Regional Park. The walk to the top provides good orientation and passes through the regional protected area.
On clear days, the summit provides views of where the Trebbia and Scrivia rivers originate before flowing as tributaries into the Po River. This vantage point offers a rare perspective for understanding the geography of the Po Valley system from above.
