Castle of Torriglia, Medieval castle in Torriglia, Italy

The castle features an irregular rectangular shape with a circular bastion on its eastern side and a square keep at the northern end.

Built around 1000, the castle's first official record appears in a papal bull from 1153 issued by Pope Anastasius IV.

The structure changed ownership between noble families including the Malaspina, Fieschi, and Doria, who transformed it according to different periods.

Since 2009, visitors can explore the castle ruins, which stand 19 meters high and include a square tower with Guelph-style battlements.

The castle's lower tower section contains large identical hammered stones, while the upper part combines baked bricks topped with irregular stones.
