Stadio Pierluigi Penzo, Football stadium in Sant'Elena, Italy
Stadio Pierluigi Penzo is a football ground in the eastern Sant'Elena district with space for around 10,500 spectators across four stands. The venue sits between two marinas and borders the lagoon directly, offering views of the water from the pitch.
The ground opened in 1913 and ranks among the oldest football venues still in use across Italy. It received its current name after World War I in honor of a Venetian aviator.
The facility takes its name from a pilot and serves as home ground for the local football club, whose jerseys reflect the city's colors. On match days the Sant'Elena neighborhood fills with fans walking through narrow lanes to the ground while chanting traditional songs.
Visitors can reach the ground via water buses stopping at nearby Sant'Elena, from where a short walk leads to the venue. On match days it helps to arrive earlier since the vaporetti tend to fill up in the hours before kickoff.
Players and supporters often travel by boat since the ground sits on a Venetian island with no road connection. At high tide the lagoon water sometimes rises close to the outer walls of the venue.
