Palon de la Mare

Palon de la Mare is an alpine summit in the Ortler group that rises to 3,703 meters with steeply rising flanks. The rock displays characteristic formations of the Rhaetian Alps with complex geological structures.

This peak took shape through millions of years of geological processes that formed the southern Rhaetian mountain chain. The rock formations here document the complex creation story of this high alpine region.

This peak holds significance in the regional mountaineering community, where experienced climbers regularly test their skills. The routes here carry stories passed down through generations of alpinists who challenge its steep terrain.

Climbers begin their ascent from around 1,530 meters and follow marked trails that require technical climbing skills. Sturdy equipment and mountain experience are needed to reach this altitude safely.

The Bivacco Colombo shelter sits strategically placed and serves climbers as a critical rest point during long climbing routes. This small hut offers shelter in an otherwise exposed and windy altitude.
