Orto Botanico dell'Università di Roma "La Sapienza"

The botanical garden spans 12 hectares on Janiculum hill slopes, featuring greenhouses, bamboo groves, medicinal plants, and Mediterranean vegetation collections.

The garden, established in 1883, occupies the grounds of ancient Horti Getae and incorporates former gardens of Palazzo Corsini, residence of Queen Christina of Sweden.

The Japanese garden section integrates water features, stone arrangements, and traditional Asian plants like Acer palmatum within the Italian landscape design.

Located at Largo Cristina di Svezia 24, the garden opens daily from 9:00 to 18:30, with free entrance for children under 5 and disabled visitors.

The germplasm bank preserves over 1300 plant species using biotechnology, making it a central node in the Italian Network for Ex Situ Conservation.
