Corna Trentapassi, Mountain summit in eastern Lake Iseo, Italy
Corna Trentapassi is a mountain summit in Lombardy with three clearly defined rocky peaks, rising above the eastern shore of Lake Iseo and the edge of Val Camonica. It sits at around 1248 meters and its triple-peaked outline can be seen from many points along the lake.
The name comes from the local dialect and refers directly to the shape of the three peaks. For centuries, travelers crossing the valley used this outline as a natural landmark to find their way.
The summit is a popular destination for hikers from the surrounding valleys, and the paths leading to it are regularly walked by people of all ages. The view over Lake Iseo from the top is what most visitors come for, and it rarely disappoints.
Several trails lead to the top from different starting points in the area, and the difficulty varies depending on the route chosen. Starting early in the day is a good idea, and sturdy footwear along with a layer for wind or cold is worth packing.
The southern face drops almost straight down in bare limestone toward the lake, with very little vegetation clinging to it. Seen from the water, this wall gives the mountain an appearance far taller than its actual height would suggest.
