Palace of Portici, Royal palace in Portici, Italy.

The Palace of Portici spans three floors with a central quadrangle courtyard and two parks overlooking the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.

King Charles III commissioned the palace construction in 1738, selecting architects Giovanni Antonio Medrano and Antonio Canevari to complete the project by 1742.

The palace interior features frescoes by Giuseppe Bonito, marble sculptures by Joseph Canart, and decorative elements in Louis XIV style throughout the rooms.

The University of Naples Federico II now operates the palace as its Faculty of Agriculture, maintaining the building and its botanical gardens for educational purposes.

During excavation works for the palace foundation, workers discovered an entire Roman temple with 24 marble columns beneath the construction site.
