Santo Spirito, Renaissance church in Siena, Italy
The Santo Spirito features a marble portal designed by Baldassare Peruzzi and stands at the intersection of Via dei Pispini and Vicolo del Sasso.
Construction of the church began in 1498 under the direction of Francesco di Giorgio and Pandolfo Petrucci, with final consecration occurring in 1513.
The Cappella degli Spagnoli contains significant Renaissance frescoes depicting Saints James, Anthony, and Sebastian, created by Sodoma with architectural elements.
Visitors can examine numerous artworks, including Francesco Vanni's St Hyacinth from 1600 and Giuseppe Nicola Nasini's Descent of the Holy Spirit from 1703.
The church holds funeral monuments of several Spanish nobility, including Daniel Burgos, Ferdinando Alvarez, and Pietro Crispo Spagnuoli.
