Monte Bondone

Monte Bondone, Alpine summit in Trento, Italy.

Monte Bondone is an Alpine peak standing at 2,180 meters (7,152 feet), positioned between the Etschtal valley to the east and the Sarca valley to the west. The mountain offers a network of hiking trails suitable for different skill levels.

The mountain served as a strategic defense position during World War I and later became known for motorsport competition. A famous hill climb race that began in 1925 helped establish it as an important location in Italian sporting history.

The mountain holds traces of World War I military constructions that visitors can observe while walking the trails. These remnants tell a story of how the landscape was used during the conflict.

The mountain is best accessed via well-marked trails, with hikes ranging from a couple of hours to half a day. Sturdy hiking boots and layered clothing are recommended, as weather conditions at higher elevations can change quickly.

The mountain hosts an annual hill climb race that has drawn famous drivers and motorcycle riders for many decades. The demanding competition follows a steep route that traverses the mountain from its lowest to highest points.
