Giardino Botanico Alpino alle Viotte di Monte Bondone

The Alpino at the Viotte di Monte Bondone is a botanical garden located on a mountain plateau around 1,500 meters high, organized into different sections with rock gardens, small lakes, and wetland areas. The collection displays plants from mountain ranges around the globe, arranged by their native regions and growing conditions.

The garden was founded in 1938 with a focus on protecting and studying alpine plants from the surrounding region. Over the decades, it grew into a center for research on mountain flora from different areas.

The garden maintains an international seed exchange program and produces an annual Delectus seminum, documenting all plant species within its collection.

The best way to explore the site is on foot, following the paths that connect the different plant sections. Wear sturdy shoes since the terrain is uneven and the mountain altitude may affect some visitors.
