Pizes de Puez

The Pizes de Puez reaches an elevation of 2,918 meters, featuring steep limestone cliffs and distinctive rock formations within the Puez-Odle Nature Park.

The mountain summit gained recognition in 1978 when the surrounding area received protection status as part of the Puez-Odle Nature Park conservation initiative.

Local Ladin communities maintain traditional alpine farming practices in the valleys surrounding Pizes de Puez, preserving centuries-old mountain cultivation methods.

Visitors can access the summit through marked trails starting from Selva di Val Gardena, with the hiking season extending from mid-June through early October.

The mountain presents different geological layers visible on its faces, revealing marine sediments from the Triassic period when the area was under an ancient sea.
