San Canciano, Religious building in Cannaregio district, Venice, Italy.

San Canciano is a church in the Cannaregio district with a white stone facade featuring classical columns and decorative details. Inside, the altar and walls display religious paintings and artistic compositions from various periods.

The church was founded in the 9th century by refugees from Aquileia seeking shelter from invasions. It was rebuilt and reshaped during the 14th and 18th centuries, giving it its current Baroque appearance.

The name comes from three saints whose story is reflected in the artworks displayed inside. Visitors can find paintings by local masters that bring their spiritual legacy to life.

The building is accessible daily and can be easily reached from a nearby water taxi stop. Sunday services take place inside if you wish to experience the spiritual function of the space.

The bell tower dates from the 16th century and is one of the oldest surviving structures of its kind in the city. Its stone construction has endured for centuries and still shapes the local skyline.
