La Serpara, Sculpture garden in Tuscia, Italy
La Serpara is a sculpture garden north of Viterbo with more than eighty works by contemporary artists spread across four hectares. The sculptures and installations are set directly in the landscape, ranging from abstract forms to functional structures that invite exploration.
Swiss artist Paul Wiedmer founded the garden in 1997 and invited other artists to contribute their works to the space. The project grew from Wiedmer's vision of creating a collaborative environment where sculpture could interact with the natural landscape over time.
The garden hosts works by artists from many countries who share a vision of blending sculpture with natural surroundings. This collaborative approach shapes how visitors experience the relationship between human creativity and the landscape.
Advance arrangements are required to visit, so contact the garden before planning your trip. Wear comfortable walking shoes since the grounds cover a large area and visiting all the works involves moving across uneven terrain.
New artworks arrive throughout the year, meaning the garden never stays the same between visits. This constant evolution means each trip can reveal different pieces and show how the space continues to develop as an active artistic project.
