Monte Vettore, Mountain summit in Ascoli Piceno Province, Italy
Monte Vettore rises to 2,476 meters in elevation, standing as the highest peak within the Monti Sibillini range of the Umbro-marchigiano Apennines.
The mountain holds medieval traditions of the Apennine Sibyl, who according to local accounts resided in a cave near the summit until judgment day.
Regional folklore describes the peak as the crown of Regina Sibilla, marked by distinct red cliffs that define the mountain's upper reaches.
Hikers can access the summit through marked trails beginning at Forca di Presta, with the Rifugio Tito Zilioli providing shelter 923 meters from the peak.
The mountain contains eleven separate summits exceeding 2,000 meters, making it the fourth highest massif in the entire Apennine mountain chain.
