Cagli Cathedral, Minor basilica in Cagli, Italy.
Cagli Cathedral began as a church in 1292, but the current building was constructed starting in 1646 in the Baroque style. The interior has three aisles with numerous side chapels and an organ built by Nicola Morettini in 1889.
Construction began in 1292 as the original church on this site. The present building was erected in 1646 and preserves a Gothic portal from 1413 from the earlier church.
The interior walls display paintings by important artists such as Gaetano Lapis and Sebastiano Conca, showing religious scenes. These works shape how the space looks and encourage visitors to linger and observe.
The building is easy to find and sits at the center of Cagli. It is best to visit in the morning to encounter fewer people and enjoy the artworks more comfortably.
The Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament holds two canvas paintings by Gaetano Lapis from the 1750s. The artist created more than 30 works throughout Cagli, leaving a lasting mark on the city's artistic heritage.
