Temple of Talamonaccio, Etruscan temple ruins in Talamone, Italy
The Temple of Talamonaccio stands on Poggio Talamonaccio hill, featuring stone podium foundations and remnants of ancient columns near Orbetello lagoon.
Built in the 4th century BC during the Hellenistic period, the temple remained active through Roman conquest until its destruction during civil conflicts.
The temple contained terracotta decorations and a pediment depicting scenes from The Seven Against Thebes, now preserved in Florence Archaeological Museum.
The archaeological site requires sturdy walking shoes for exploration, with guided tours available through the local cultural heritage office.
Its strategic location on Poggio Talamonaccio provided defense capabilities while serving religious functions for the Etruscan settlement of ancient Tlamun.
