Parco delle Cascine

Parco delle Cascine is an expansive green space stretching along the Arno River with open meadows, tree-lined paths, and wooded sections. Within the park stands the Palazzina Reale, an 18th-century building that currently serves different purposes.

The park was founded in the 16th century by the Medici family as a farming estate and was later transformed into a public green space. This shift happened in the early 19th century when the land's use fundamentally changed.

The name reflects the cascades of the nearby river, and today visitors find paths where locals walk, jog, and gather in the open spaces. The layout with meadows and tree-lined avenues creates a space where people naturally come together throughout the day.

The area is best reached by public transport, with convenient stops nearby that make access easy. The best time to visit is during warmer months when the paths are clear and pleasant to use.

The grounds hold a notable collection of tree species, including old oaks, elms, and other varieties that have grown over decades. These older specimens shape the appearance of the space and show the long history of its planting.
