Acquario dell'Elba spans 1000 square meters with 80 pools containing 250,000 liters of seawater, presenting Mediterranean marine species in their natural environments.
The facility began as a private initiative without public funding and developed into one of the principal Mediterranean aquariums focused on local marine life.
The aquarium maintains an educational center that introduces visitors to the marine biodiversity of the Tuscan Archipelago through guided tours and informative displays.
The aquarium operates daily from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM until September 15, then reduces hours to 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM through October 20.
Three species of sharks - nurse shark, white reef shark, and carpet shark - swim in specialized tanks designed for their specific environmental requirements.
