The museum displays the reconstructed wreckage of DC-9 aircraft from Itavia flight 870, which crashed near Ustica in 1980 with 81 passengers.
The aircraft wreckage underwent extensive investigation, revealing evidence of an air-to-air missile strike, leading to decades of investigations and legal proceedings.
French artist Christian Boltanski created an installation featuring 81 black mirrors, pulsing lights, and voice recordings surrounding the aircraft remains.
Located at Via di Saliceto, the museum operates Thursday and Friday from 09:30 to 13:30, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:30 with free admission.
The museum holds 81 black slabs representing each victim, containing personal belongings recovered from the Mediterranean Sea after the incident.
