Construction of the church began in 1901 under Cardinal Domenico Svampa's guidance, with completion achieved in 1912 following Edoardo Collamarini's design.
The church interior contains a single large nave with four side chapels, adorned with frescoes and stained glass windows by artists Domenico Ferri and Antonio Nardi.
Located just outside Porta Galliera along Via Matteotti in the Navile district, the church serves over ten thousand parishioners in the community.
The church dome collapsed in 1929, leading to a complete reconstruction that followed the original plans rather than demolition and new construction.
