Bologna Gallery of Modern Art, Modern art museum in Bologna, Italy.

The Bologna Gallery of Modern Art is a museum with several locations across the city, together displaying paintings, sculptures, and contemporary installations. The collection contains more than 3,500 works spread across different venues, each with its own focus.

The museum started in 1926 at Villa delle Rose, founded through a donation by Countess Nerina Armandi Avogli. The collection grew over the decades and the institution later expanded to multiple locations to house more works.

The gallery's name comes from its 1926 founding as the Galleria d'arte moderna, and its collection was built around Bologna's own artists. In 1977 director Franco Solmi hosted the Settimana Internazionale della Performance, where Marina Abramović with Ulay, Gina Pane, Hermann Nitsch and Luigi Ontani performed. In 1997 the Spazio Aperto was created inside the gallery for emerging artists and experimental work.

The museum spreads across several buildings including MAMbo, Villa delle Rose, and Museo Morandi, so plan which venues to visit. It helps to know the location of each site beforehand to move between them comfortably.

The GAM's 1975 seat in Piazza della Costituzione was designed by architect Leone Pancaldi and offered 2,700 m² of exhibition space. In June 1977 it hosted the Settimana Internazionale della Performance, where Marina Abramović with Ulay, Gina Pane, Hermann Nitsch and Luigi Ontani performed. The building was left behind when the museum moved to the former bread factory on via Don Minzoni in 2007.
