Palazzo Bonaccorso

Palazzo Bonaccorso is an office building made of three connected glass towers on Piazza Liber Paradisus in Bologna. The eleven-story structure houses important city administration functions and its contemporary design stands out against the older buildings surrounding it.

The building opened in 2008 on the site of a former fruit and vegetable market. This transformation marked a shift in how Bologna used this central plaza for city administration.

The building takes its name from Bonaccorso da Soresina, a scholar who worked with medieval documents about Bologna's liberation. His name connects this modern place to the city's medieval past.

The building sits in the center of a large plaza and is easily accessible from different directions. Keep in mind that this is an active government office, so some areas are not open to the public.

The three glass towers were a bold architectural choice for Bologna, a city traditionally defined by medieval brick facades. This modern building shows how contemporary architecture can emerge within a historic urban setting.
