Villa Reale di Marlia, Royal villa with historical park museum in Marlia, Italy.

Villa Reale di Marlia is a Tuscan manor house with museum rooms and extensive grounds containing lakes, fountains, and garden paths. The interior displays Empire-style furniture and art objects, while the outdoor areas feature various historical water features and planted spaces.

The mansion came into the possession of Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi, Napoleon's sister, in 1806, who reshaped it according to French imperial taste. The family influenced its architecture and gardens over decades, creating the spaces visitors encounter today.

The mansion reflects French artistic taste brought by its female owners, particularly in the carefully arranged rooms filled with historical furnishings and art pieces. Visitors walk through spaces that show how residents once lived and displayed their collections.

The grounds are accessible via a lift system that helps visitors explore multiple levels of the house and gardens. The paths suit various fitness levels, and it is wise to wear comfortable shoes and allow time for leisurely exploration.

The gardens contain the Teatro di Verzura, an outdoor theater made of hedges dating from the 1500s and considered one of the oldest of its kind in Europe. Nearby stands Pan's Grotto, a stone cave with mythological references that reflects the design philosophy of the site.
